Founder Luis Bacardi and driver Gian Bacardi paired with Matt Plumb behind the wheel of the BMW M3, and the results spoke for themselves — three victories and ten podium finishes in their debut season.

Matt began his racing career in 1997, winning the Skip Barber Formula Dodge Championship in his rookie season with an incredible 13 wins. The GRAND-AM podium appearance was the 20th for Rum Bum Racing, and the second in a row for drivers Matt Plumb and Nick Longhi after winning the previous round at Mid-Ohio.

(10 June 2013) - When Luis Bacardi’s Rum Bum Racing team arrives at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for the Diamond Cellar Classic & Round 5 of the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, the driving duo of Matt Plumb and Nick Longhi will be targeting the team’s third consecutive Mid-Ohio podium in just four years of racing at the popular 2.258-mile Ohio road course.

Rum Bum Racing won the 2011 season-finale at Mid-Ohio driving the No. 13 BMW M3, but following the season-opening race in 2012, the team made the decision to transition to a Porsche 911 and the decision proved to be a good one. The podium run of third at Mid-Ohio helped Rum Bum Racing secure the 2012 Team Championship title with the Florida-based team also winning five races of the 10-race championship last year.

Atlanta, Ga. (20 April 2013) – Luis Bacardi’s Rum Bum Racing got knocked back, but didn’t fall down. Drivers Matt Plumb and Nick Longhi suffered two tough hits and some bad luck in pit lane during Round 4 of the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge at Road Atlanta, but that didn’t keep the team from retaining the championship points lead.

Longhi opened the PWC 250 at Road Atlanta event from the pole after Friday’s qualifying session was rained out and the grid was set by championship point order. Showing strength from the drop of the green flag, the No. 13 immediately pulled out a two-second advantage over the 60-car combined class field. But just four laps into the 2.5-hour event, the GS field encountered the slower ST traffic and a pack of cars began to catch the No. 13.

Lakeville, Conn. (4 October 2012) - Luis Bacardi’s Rum Bum Racing capped off a dominating season by winning the final race of the year at Lime Rock Park and securing the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Team Championship.

The team, which signaled its championship intentions with a huge victory in its very first race at Daytona International Speedway in January 2010, clinched the team championship title when drivers Nick Longhi and Matt Plumb drove to their fifth victory of the season - as the team won half of this year’s race events. The team was able to deliver this incredible performance despite their successes motivating GRAND-AM to add 150 lbs in extra ballast to their Porsche 911, just to let other teams try and keep up. It didn’t work.

INDIANAPOLIS (27 July 2012) – After a race that saw history being made, two and a half hours of frantic racing, heavy rain storms, a red flag, and some questionable driving from a familiar source, Rum Bum Racing will leave the Indianapolis Motor Speedway with a banged up Porsche but a small lead in the provisional Team Championship points.

Longhi opened the 2.5-hour race from the ninth position in the 73-car field, running in the top-10 throughout the beginning stages of the race. The Rum Bum squad took advantage of the second full course caution of the race to call the No. 13 to pit road out of ninth place for a routine pit stop and driver change. Longhi handed the car over to Plumb while the team performed another flawless pit stop to return the Porsche to the track 16th in the order.
